Choosing Peace in a World of Fear (Message 1: Waking to God's Dream)

In this Advent message, we’re invited to reimagine what peace really means in a world overwhelmed by fear and conflict. Isaiah 2 offers a breathtaking prophetic vision—nations streaming to God’s mountain to learn His ways, weapons of war transformed into tools that cultivate life, swords beaten into plowshares, spears reshaped into pruning hooks.

This is not wishful thinking or naive optimism. It’s prophetic imagination—the Spirit-given ability to see the world as God intends it to be and then begin living toward that world right now. We live between two realities: the world as it is and the world as God promises it will be. Every day, each of us chooses which world will shape our character and claim our allegiance.

Peace is not passive. It is courageous, imaginative, and Spirit-empowered. When we choose forgiveness over retaliation, listening over lashing out, humility over self-protection, God reshapes us from instruments of conflict into agents of healing. Advent calls us back to childlike faith—to let Scripture’s images awaken hope, reshape our habits, and form us into people who walk in the light of the Lord.
