Noctuelles, "Night moths," is the opening piece from the suite "Miroirs," a suite that exhibits Ravel's development of new pianistic territories. This piece is dedicated to Léon-Paul Fargue, a poet. Each of the pieces in Miroirs is dedicated to a different member of the French artist's group Les Apaches.
