How To Dye Yarn - Solids

Join me as I share how I dye my solids in a pan and in a crockpot!
This is one of the most common methods I've seen dyers make their solids. Below I will write step by step instructions on how to make solids if I went too fast in the video :)

Equipment:
-Stainless Steel Steam Pan & Lid can be found @ www.webstaurantstore.com
-Crock Pot 6qt or 7qt
-Latex Gloves
-Dharma Dye Powder
-Mask to prevent inhalation of powder
-Dharma Citric Acid
-Syringe
-Tongs (Not a Spatula!)
-Cotton String

Instructions:
-Pre Soak your skein with water and citric acid for about 30 minutes
-Use a cotton string and tie it around the skein so that you can grab it easily later on
-Make sure to have the water as high as possible so that the skein is completely submerged
-Have the heat on low and wait until the water starts to steam
-Either add dye with water already mixed / add powder into the water
-Stir it up until the color has been equally distributed throughout the pan
-Add your skein! Make sure you have the figure 8 knots (not slip knots!) loosened so that the dye can get in their!
-Lay out skein in pan and space out the fiber
-Let it sit in the pan for 30 minutes but check 15 minutes in to make sure the colors are being equally distributed
-Once the timer has ran out, let the skein cool down to room temperature, allowing any dye left over to still have a chance to be absorbed into the skein
-Once cooled, grab the cotton string and rinse out, making sure it isn't bleeding
-Hang up to dry and enjoy!
For Crock Pots: mess with the mini until the water is completely exhausted
