RPG games like Dungeons & Dragons or Pathfinder use an outline for the game session. It used to be a called Modules, or Adventurers. Adventures have a lot in common with a narrative story, a book or movie, and because the players choose which people to talk to, how to talk to them, and what threads they feel are the most important it can be over it can be hard to know exactly what to prepare.
