This robotic fettling cell is designed for SG Iron automotive components.
An ABB IRB 6700 Foundry plus specification robot is used for fettling the components.
The components are loaded on a slat chain conveyor in bulk. Around 60 components can be loaded in random orientation thus saving the operator valuable time during loading.
A vision system with a servo orientation unit precisely identifies the gate and runner locations and orients the components repeatably for the robot. The robot picks the component and grinds specific areas of the component. 2 operations are required to complete the grinding on both sides.
The finished components are delivered on a belt conveyor. This is a fully automated cell that requires an unskilled helper for loading and unloading the components once an hour.
Robotic fettling cells can be utlized for automotive component fettling, pump component fettling, valve component fettling, pressure die cast component deburring or PDC deburring.
