Kugti : The Untouched Beauty of Himachal

The kugti trek extend from the ancient village of Kugti to the Kartik swami mandir also it can be extended to kugti pass upto Lahaul spiti. You can reach Chamba from Pathankot by bus, taxi or your own car. From Chamba take bus to Bharmour and from bharmour take a bus to Kugti village or again a taxi or your own car. The roads are not very good in between especially when going from bharmour to kugti. Please try to avoid the travel during the month of manimahesh Yatra as there are a whole lot of people at that time of the year. The temple opens in the month of April and closes during October due to snowfall. The shepherd(gaddi) used to take this trek in the summer time with their sheeps to avoid the scourging heat of the summer. If you like to walk and explore the untouched beauty of nature and have two days to do so then this trek is the best suited for you. The trek upto kartik swami mandir or Kalang vajir is of moderate difficulty. It is ~4 km from Kugti village and depending on your physical health might take 2-3 hours to reach there. There are many small shops in between and near the temple to buy something to eat or drink. The weather can change here very fast so it’s advisable to carry warm jackets with you. Cell phone network can be an issue here. If you want to stay a night near the temple then there are people who have an arrangement of bedding in there shop only. You may pay a little amount and stay. You can buy desi rajma, maah ki daal, honey, walnut etc from the locals. There are few home stays at kugti village too. Not to mention this kugti trek is in the wildlife sanctuary. Along the way you will find many herds of sheeps and goats. You can try this trek as it is a golden bliss in this world of stress.
