When a country's president is a real narco anything is possible

Get ready for mind-blowing corruption. Juan Orlando Hernández, the two-term president of Honduras, was the darling of Washington, supported by Donald Trump and Joe Biden, all while he was the most invasive and treacherous narco in the region. A real drug kingpin. Let me tell you about it.
The Mob Reporter here with news of a country’s president who helped build and protect a key cocaine route using all the power of the state — it’s military, police, politicians, and prisons — and how he was finally convicted in March 2024, not in his own country, but in New York City, for paving a cocaine superhighway to the United States.

Based on court testimony and access to the exhibits presented at the recent trial in Manhattan of Juan Orlando Hernández, and from the earlier trial of his brother, Tony Hernández, we learn that successive Honduran administrations were built on cocaine, supported by narcos and working with narcos, including Mexico’s El Chapo, the most notorious narco in the world.
A mixed bag of cartel bosses from Honduras, all of them in prison in the US themselves, testified against the former president, known by his initials JOH: Alexander Ardón, head of the AA cartel, Devis Leonel Rivera Maradiaga, leader of the Los Cachiros cartel, Fabio Lobo, a narco who is the son of Porfirio Lobo, the president before JOH, and Mario Mejía Vargas, a former deputy commissioner of the Honduras Policia Nacional, the Honduran national police.
