Week in my life as a publishing intern in NYC ✨🌻📗

Hello Everyone! Publishing tips below 👇

When I was applying for publishing internships I consumed so many DITL videos and wanted to create one myself. I know working in publishing is a dream for so many so below I’ve included a few things that helped me out:

✏️ I looked for roles on Publishers Marketplace and Publishers Weekly
✏️ Apply as early as possible! Try to be one of the first 100 applicants to a listing
✏️ I consistently looked at the company's career pages. The best place to apply is on the company's website!
✏️ I started my publishing career at a smaller publisher while in college which I think helped me land an internship at a larger company
✏️ ALWAYS write a cover letter. This is just my opinion, but a cover letter is a great way to get your passion for reading across.
✏️ You do not have to live in NYC to work in publishing. A lot of publishers have great remote opportunities. Most of the interns during my semester were remote!
✏️ So many of the interns I worked with came from all walks of life, don’t be afraid to be yourself! They are looking for diverse voices and someone who is uniquely themselves.
