Compliance with specified coating film thicknesses is often very critical. For efficient and good coating processes, a coating film thickness of between 70 - 100 μm is often considered a good reference value. If it is less than this, the corrosion protection can be negatively affected, if it is more than this, it could have a negative effect on the mechanical load-bearing capacity. It can also result in an orange peel effect finish and as a consequence, result in unnecessary powder consumption.
It is also good to know how the "picture frame effect" can be avoided and how important the correct hanging of products is. Parts with elevations, such as zinc lugs/welds, act like grounded antennas on the grounded surface, which attract the electrostatic charge more strongly, and therefore powder build-up can occur there.
