This session deepened participants’ understanding of how the strands of Scarborough’s Reading Rope work together to support skilled reading, with a focus on the language comprehension components—background knowledge, vocabulary, language structure, verbal reasoning, and literacy knowledge. Participants explored tools and strategies to strengthen each area and examined how the Reading Rope aligns with the Big 5 foundations of the Science of Reading. The session concluded with time to reflect on insights from the full three-part series and identify next instructional steps to advance literacy learning in their context.
