Nickie was feeling under the weather, so we planned a chill day on the water. No cameras, no expectations — just a little sun and fresh air. But then… the unexpected happened.
I had been chatting with the guys at Emerald Coast Bait & Tackle about sailfish. Shoutout to Isiah who gave me some killer tips on gear, bait, and how to make it happen. So we stopped at a nearshore reef to try our luck.
Suddenly, weird bites. Then… chaos.
I hooked into our first-ever sailfish off Destin, Florida — and it went absolutely airborne! The jumps, the run, the adrenaline — this fish gave us a show we'll never forget. We managed to land it, and what happened next was just icing on the cake: more awesome fish and a fresh catch dinner back at the dock.
