玉石主要分成硬玉和软玉两种，在这两大类之中又分为不同的小类。其中硬玉以翡翠为代表，软玉以和田玉为代表。
Jade is mainly divided into two types, jadeite and nephrite, which both have their own different subcategories. The subcategory most associated with jadeite is known as emeralds, and the best-known subcategory of nephrite is Hotan jade.
翡翠有绿、红、黄、紫很多颜色，但是上好的翡翠一般是以阳绿色为主。

和田玉是中国“四大名玉”之一，一般是指新疆和田地区出产的玉石，颜色也非常丰富，有白色、青色、灰色、深绿色、褐色、墨色等。其中最为著名的是世界罕见的白玉。色如羊脂，触手温润。
Hotan jade is one of China's Four Famous Jade. It generally refers to the jade which was produced in the Hotan area of Xinjiang.
