Does Canon C50 7K Open Gate make Sony users sad?

Canon EOS C50 Full Frame - the newest cinema camera from Canon has been labeled the Sony FX3 Killer. With 7K Open Gate RAW video and Simultaneous Crop Recording. Sony users are now the odd ones left out, with Sony being the last ones to not include open gate recording in their cinema cameras. What does this mean? Does open gate even matter?
