My 92nd Supreme Court justice grave was David Souter. My father and I visited his final resting place just about six months after he died in May 2025. Souter was known in part for his frugality and unostentatious taste, and it is of little surprise that his name is inscribed on the back of his ancestors' monument instead of his own, private tombstone. Souter served on the High Court from 1990 to 2009, after having been approved by the Senate in a 90-9 vote.
