Canadian journalist Tyler Brûlé started his career as a reporter for the BBC, then switched to print journalism, writing for publications including The Guardian, Stern, The Sunday Times, Vanity Fair, and the Financial Times. In 1996, he launched Wallpaper*, a magazine that was distributed in over 50 countries and received numerous awards. In 1998, he founded Winkreative, a full-service branding and design agency. In 2001, Brûlé became the youngest-ever recipient of the British Society of Magazine Editors Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2007, he launched Monocle, a magazine that covers international affairs, business, culture and design from a global perspective. Monocle has since become a global media brand that combines print and online publication, retail network and even radio broadcasting. In 2011, he became the first non-American to be named Ad Age’s Editor of the Year. In 2012, Monocle was selected as the “Best Brand for Living the Good Life” in Ad Week’s annual Hot List.
