Udayagiri and Khandagiri Caves are located 7km from the city of Bhubaneshwar in Odisha. The cave complex was built by King Kharavela of the Meghavahana dynasty, the most powerful king in the history of Odisha in the 1st century BC.
Udayagiri and Khandagiri Caves were built for Jain monks and the caves are considered important in the Jainism religion. The caves are known for their carving and inscriptions and should be on the list of places to travel in Bhubaneshwar and Odisha.
