Nice K5LA on KCS 4669 North | Caldwell, TX

Here we see my last catch on January 28th, 2023, a northbound BNSF stack train. This could have either been Q-ROBALT or Q-ROBCHI; both have since been abolished as BNSF has chosen to route their Mexico intermodal service via UP and Ferromex, crossing the border at Eagle Pass. The previous arrangement involved running the intermodal trains over both UP and KCS trackage to Laredo, then down the KCSM to Monterrey. The new arrangement, instated late in 2023, allegedly shaved a day off of the travel time due to the trains taking a more direct route.

In the lead of this train was a KCSM ES44AC with a nice K5LA horn and a BNSF ES44DC.
