A worn idler pulley or faulty serpentine belt can cause serious problems for your 1GR-FE Toyota Prado. The last thing you want is find yourself stranded far from home having to pay for a tow and/or mechanic to get your beloved 4X4 back on the road again.
This video shows you how to easily swap it out worn idler pulleys yourself, saving you money and ensuring your vehicle runs smoothly. The video provides a detailed guide for replacing the three idlers, the belt tensioner and the serpentine belt itself, outlining necessary tools and offering helpful tips to make the process simple and efficient.
I purchased the Drive Belt and Idler Tensioner Pully Kit through Auto Parts Supply QLD. The kit included a Dayco Multi-rib drive belt (Part# 7PK2120), 2 NuLine EP236 Idlers, 1 NuLine EP238 Idler and 1 NuLine EP239 Idler and set me back $243.00 delivered.
If yours and making a noise, bite the bullet and change them out. I found the installation to be relatively straight forward, minimal tooling was required in my case and the entire install took less than 2 hours in the driveway at home, even with me messing around filming.
