Conflict, Peace, and Reconciliation: Lessons from Northern Ireland
Elaine Disbro spent more than a year living and studying in Belfast, Northern Ireland. In December 2024, she graduated with a master's degree in Conflict Transformation and Social Justice. Hear about her experience living in a post-conflict society and what Northern Ireland taught her about conflict, peace, and reconciliation during Redeemer’s Adult Education Class on Sundays, April 6 and April 13.
April 6 - Conflict Transformation in Theory and Practice
What is conflict transformation and how does it differ from other approaches that seek to address and resolve conflict? This week the class will explore some of the key theories, concepts, and debates in the field of conflict studies and peacebuilding. “We'll also learn about the conflict in Northern Ireland known as The Troubles and explore the historical grievances, social and economic inequalities, and issues of identity that drove the violence and continue to shape peace and reconciliation efforts.”
