Mahalanobis four sector model is not a growth model but an allocation model formulated at the time of second five year plan. To manage 5600 crore allocation and to provide employment to 10 million people was his first objective. He also added 5% per annum growth in the national income. Taking four sectors in to consideration, he allocates his budget to achieve the above said targets.
