19thNew.org reports, “The vision for Trump’s second term in the White House purports to protect families — but its anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric is centered in exclusion.” The article states, “One of the country’s most draconian anti-trans measures became law in Kentucky last March. The law has required teachers to put politics before the well-being of their own students and reshaped how students see and treat each other. It bans them from being taught about gender identity or sexual orientation, using restrooms and locker rooms that match their gender identity and learning about human sexuality. The law also made gender-affirming care illegal for trans youth.” The story covers an anonymous teacher who got reprimanded for trying to stop bullying in her classroom. Two boys were tormenting another boy for having two moms. She told them to stop because in her classroom all families will be treated with respect. She was later told she broke the law by speaking about gay families and infringing on the bullies’ families’ right to oppose gay topics for religious reasons. By stopping bullying, she was in danger of losing her income and health insurance, which would then hurt her family. The 19thNews.org piece says that’s the very vision that is articulated in Project 2025, created by the Heritage Foundation as a blueprint for the next conservative president to follow. Project 2025 equates being transgender or even being friendly to Trans causes pornography. Project 2025 would have sex discrimination laws passed and enforced, which could imperil teachers and librarians who make information about transgender people and their experiences available. The Queer God Squad doesn’t endorse political parties or candidates, but we unambiguously denounce Project 2025.
