West Point Organist Craig Williams plays the Austin pipe organ (Opus 1215) at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Hanover, PA. This large instrument has vast tonal resources, which are used to good advantage in Fela Sowande's "Joshua Fit de Battle ob Jericho." In less than three minutes, Sowande explores full organ and numerous other registrational ensembles, from theatrical sounds to terraced principal choruses - with some solo passages left to the organist's imagination. Sowande's versatile abilities, from being a church organist and musicologist to playing theatre organ, are well displayed in this brilliant tour de force.
