The Presidential Youth Employment Initiative (PYEI) in Basic Education aims to create opportunities of employment in our schools and to provide support to workers.
During the first phase in 2019/20 the Western Cape employed over 19000 Teacher & General Assistants to ensure continued teaching and learning in a safe environment. In 2021/22 during the second phase, over 20000 Teacher and General Assistants are employed.
