Famous Phuket Eats for UNDER $5 (Mark Wiens Food Tour!)

Looking for cheap eats in Phuket? We visited two famous Mark Wiens recommended restaurants — here’s what we thought!

In today’s video, we set out to eat like Mark Wiens in Phuket — visiting two of his favorite restaurants! We kept it budget-friendly, with one epic Thai meal costing under $5.

First, we tried Ko Huat Khao Gaeng (ร้านข้าวแกงโกฮวด), a legendary Southern Thai rice and curry spot serving over 100 dishes a day. We had the famous Gaeng Som Pla Mong (yellow curry with fish) — a spicy, tangy explosion of flavors for just 150 THB (~$4.15)!

Next, we stopped at Niyom Grilled Duck (นิยม เป็ดย่างเกลือ), a hidden gem on the side of the highway serving mouthwatering salt-grilled duck. It’s a little more pricey at 350 THB (~$9.67), but 100% worth it for an entire duck!
