Barrier Surfaces of the Innate Immune System

The first aspect of the innate immune system we will examine is the many barrier surfaces, such as the skin, as well as the linings of the respiratory tract and digestive tract. These cells have to constantly prevent infection from the environment, so how do they do this? We've also probably heard of the microbiome, so what's that? How does it differ from area to area in the body? Let's get a closer look at this first line of defense now!
