This is the story of how Goans came together to revive the lost the Kunbi weave. These tribal saris disappeared because of cheaper machine made fabrics and Portuguese colonial influence. Later, the community, designers, weavers and historians came together to revive them in their original form.
The good news is soon they'll be applying for a GI Tag! So the Kunbi will be recognized worldwide as from Goa.
