e-QCity Bus: A Step towards Sustainability

Quezon City, the largest city in Metro Manila, has taken a significant step towards reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable transportation. In October 2024, they launched their first electric bus: the e-QCity Bus. This marks the beginning of a cleaner and greener public transportation system for the city as part of their commitment to C40 and Paris Agreement which aims to reduce 30% of greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and net zero carbon by 2050, as well as their compliance with the Section 16 of the Republic Act No. 11697 or the "Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act or EVIDA Law."

The e-QCity Bus is a full electric bus manufactured by Xiamen Golden Dragon Bus Co., Ltd. It has a 42 + 1 seating capacity, with 3 provision seats for PWDs and Senior Citizens, along with wheelchair ramp access for convenience. It is also equipped with features such as CCTV cameras and fire extinguishers for passengers' safety.

Quezon City's e-QCity Bus is a pioneering initiative in the Philippines' shift towards eco-friendly transportation. This innovation sets a precedent for other cities to follow, promoting a healthier environment and a sustainable future.
