Southeast of Lambaréné, down to the Congolese border in the south, lie the Mayombe and Chaillu mountain ranges where a hilly landscape and lush vegetation have curbed human expansion.
Here lies the untouched heart of the great forest, one is one of the last refuges of the Babongo pygmies. Once nomadic, the Babongo people have now settled here and they practise subsistence farming. But their society is still structured around fishing, hunting and harvesting all that the forest has to offer.
We follow Kombo, of the best hunters in his village, on a fascinating trip into the forest.
