Causing succulents to rot is many plant-lovers worst nightmare. And some succulents are indeed prone to rotting. But can watering them during heatwaves cause rot?
Rot is a fungal and bacterial disease and can affect many succulents (some more than others) when conditions are humid and wet. Fungi thrive in warm weather as well.
Prolonged excess water and humidity can cause succulents to rot when the weather is also hot. For instance, when a storms roll in after a very hot day. But not all succulents. Some can rot but others are just fine.
