In this video I rant about how some students have really weak listening skills, and yet instead of doing intensive listening exercises they waste time with apps that promise to improve their speaking skills. But in reality, if you mess up your verb conjugations it won't cause a breakdown in communication. What is sure to cause a breakdown in communication is your inability to understand what the other person is saying.

I rant about common words, common n-grams, common verb conjugations, why listening is way more than merely decoding sounds, why we only hear what we expect to hear, and more.

Although I promote these videos "for beginners", in reality even some conversational learners might have trouble hearing a few lines of these dialogues. This is because I'm trying my best to record the dialogues using natural connected speech instead of the typical "baby talk" you find in other channels' "superbeginner" CI videos. I also take great pains to create accurate, perfectly timed captions and phonetic transcriptions for these CI videos, so they're useful even for advanced learners who still need to work on their accent and fluency.

And NO, the animations in my comprehensible input videos are NOT AI-generated. They're painstakingly created in Adobe Character Animator and Apple Keynote from Illustrator drawings and a few stock images downloaded from Canva. And the dialogues are all written by me, a native speaker, NOT an AI. They are also NOT written by some English speaker who then hires translators to convert it into courses in different languages. My CI videos are 100% native Spanish, not English translated to Spanish.
