Acacia Pied Barbet Nesting Hole - Majik Forest, Durbanville

I stumbled upon this Acacia Pied Barbet pair completely by chance. What followed was a simple, intimate look at their nesting cavity, mostly quiet moments of the barbets entering and peeking out, watching their surroundings, and guarding their space.

I also captured a brief cameo of a Lesser Honeyguide inspecting the cavity, rare moment to film, even if only for a few seconds 🕊️. Urban parks hold small stories like these, often unnoticed between the noise and movement around them 🍃✨.

I’m not done with this. I want to have more encounters with the barbets at nesting holes — hopefully with more strategic positioning for camera work, where I can film from multiple angles and get different kinds of photographs. But just this experience has been epic already.
