Ezzitouna Mosque or the mosque of olive tree lies in the centre of the old medina of Tunis. The second to be built in the region of Maghreb after the one in Kairouan.
It has a significant historical importance since its culumns are originally from different eras Tunisia has know and goes as old as the Romans' and the Carthaginian civilizations.
It was the host of the greatest universities in the history of Islam
