Writing this piece took about three minutes, but arranging it took five weeks. It was improvised in May 2010, and it's mainly based on music from The Weather Channel's Local on the 8s segments. I arranged this for five concert marimbas and one xylophone for the higher melody line. There is also a repeat instruction for the last marimba.
The color scheme for MIDITrail was mostly based on outdoor scenery. I initially imagined an event like canoeing on a river but eventually associated the colors with other scenes as well. I got tired of looking for pictures online to match this so I used the background from a previous video I made.
