Ego-Death According to Carl Jung — a deep, practical guide. "Ego-death" is a phrase that shows up in psychedelic accounts, mystical literature, and pop-psychology threads, but when read through the lens of Carl Gustav Jung it acquires subtlety, nuance, and a clinical poetic depth. Jung never used the term in exactly the same popular sense as modern psychedelic culture, but his entire psychology, especially the concepts of the ego, the Self, individuation, the shadow, and the transcendent function describes processes that can be usefully understood as an ego loss and reconfiguration: an encounter in which the conscious ego loses its primacy and is transformed, not annihilated.
