National Disaster Medical System Helps Protect Patients at MD Long-Term Care Facilities from COVID

As part of the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, responders from the National Disaster Medical System deployed in support of the Maryland Department of Health to assess area long-term care facilities. NDMS responders worked with the Maryland Department of Health, the Maryland National Guard, Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems, the U.S. Public Health Service, and other partners to evaluate each facility’s preparedness planning, including transport protocols, isolation guidelines, disinfection procedures, PPE usage and availability, and staffing.
