I stopped making high production writing videos a few years ago because I felt what I was teaching was the wrong approach. I was mirroring what was widely being taught about how to write stories. I felt current writing advice was stagnant. It's taken many years of studying and developing a new coherent narrative theory, where I feel the advice I put out is the right approach.

This course invites you into an explorative process to imagine meaningful, character-driven stories.

1. Starting with existing or new characters, we look for single evocative moments worth telling, where a shocking aspect of personality is revealed to be part of a person’s temperament.
2. Then we explore meaningful story events that revolve around that moment. Because of this, the entire story has purpose.

Stories and art emerge from the evocative moments and the burning questions that are worth exploring and sharing with others, writing down, acting out or depicting through some creative medium. If it’s evocative, immersive, interesting to you, it will be to others too.
