Freezing snow storm hits Vancouver and throughout B.C. The Arctic front has moved in with freezing snow. The homeless people living in the Tent City in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside face a life and death crisis as temperatures fall below freezing.
Vancouver city mayor Ken Sim and B. C. Premier David Eby are proposing short term solutions to house the homeless. They are proposing two temporary home sites to be built. These home sites will be ready by March 2023. Unfortunately, they will not be ready in time to house the homeless this winter.
The homeless stay warm anyway they can. Some use propane tanks to keep warm. Others set up an open fire to stay warm. I even saw someone walk around with an open flame.
As the situation stands, some homeless people are turned away from winter shelters because there is no room for them. Unfortunately, some will die when the weather get extreme like this in the winter.
