Ferruccio Tagliavini (1913-1995) was coaxed out of retirement and returned to the concert platform one last time to perform in a 1981 gala concert. Here, the 68 year old tenor sings one of his signature pieces, "Lamento di Federico" from Cilea's opera L'Arlesiana. It would be inaccurate to state that the veteran singer's voice was untouched by time, but much of the old magic was still there.
