GoPro Hero 13 vs. Insta360 X3 for Skiing POV
I just made the switch back to a GoPro. Did I make the right decision?

This video is not sponsored by Insta360 or GoPro so is as honest as I can possibly be.
This is not a review video by any means. I made this video to highlight exactly why I decided to move away from a 360 camera. The information in this video also purely based on my own personal experience with both cameras.
Having used the Insta360 X3 as a POV camera for an entire winter season, I eventually found a groove with my workflow for producing YouTube content. During my time between seasons, I did a lot of thinking, reading and research to try and improve my workflow efficiency so that I could decrease the turnaround time for my videos.
This rabbit-hole lead me towards purchasing a GoPro Hero 13 and accompanying mods/attachments as my primary POV camera for filming skiing. Since arriving in Japan this season, I have also started using it as my main vlogging camera over my Sony A7iii just purely due to the size and convenience of it.
I have now been using the GoPro Hero 13 for over 2 weeks and published multiple videos with footage purely shot on it. I am extremely happy with the quality of the footage, the specific look it produces and mainly the improvements in my editing workflow (which I highlight in the video).
I have example skiing footage in this video in both 16:9 and 9:16 formats to showcase the different outcomes from both cameras. I made sure to put footage from sunny days and low visibility/stormy days in an attempt to show the differences and capabilities of each camera in different lighting. I also have put an audio capture comparison specific to the GoPro Hero 13 with and without the media mod.
As I talk about in the video, I personally prefer the look of GoPro footage and always have. I think it just looks more immersive and captures the "feeling" better from a POV perspective. I do think the Insta360 X3 still looks excellent, and I know that the X4 has the capability of producing even higher quality videos.
Most reviews related to filming skiing tend to be sponsored in some way (especially Insta360), so I wanted to share my unbiased opinion on both cameras. This video is not to say in any way that the Insta360 X3 is a bad camera. It just doesn't specifically suit the objective I'm trying to achieve with my channel.
If you are using this video for information to help decide on which camera to get, please be sure to consider your own specific objectives and use cases. It is highly likely that we will use the cameras in different ways and so what works for me may not be the best option for you.
I have likely left out some details in this video so please feel free to ask any questions in the comments below. I will be more than happy to answer them.
