A unique body/chassis partnership.
The tubular backbone design offers greater stiffness yet at just 75kg is much lighter than all others. This allows the body to be a substantial construction, instead of a typical flexible single skin. The GD body is a one piece double skinned composite tub with integral floors, bulkheads, engine compartment, wheel wells etc all built-in.

The body construction, which has not changed since the late 1980’s, features other significant benefits:
An acclaimed proven whole side anti-intrusion protection, door anti-intrusion, modern two stage bust proof door latching, insulated mouldings to prevent cabin heat from exhaust, and simply the largest boot in class for luggage and weather gear stowage.

The body remains unstressed from torsion loads and high frequencies in part due to the stiff backbone chassis beneath but also because it is attached to the chassis via 14 rubber isolation mounts. These mountings allow the body to be simply detached from the chassis within one hour allowing full access to all components and drive train for inspection and maintenance should it be required. And of equal benefit, the body mounts provide a 14mm air gap between the composite body and powder coated steel chassis, thereby preventing squeaks, chaffing, sweating and moisture trap that would otherwise all speed chassis corrosion.

While the GD maintains a period charm with classic instruments and switchgear, the many options included some creature comforts like adjustable pedal box, seats and steering for optimum driver comfort, but one can also select EPAS, TC, and heated seats and other items like leather trim details, full harness seatbelts and roll-over protection, and much more, none of which spoil the look of that gorgeous silhouette.
