On 4 August 2022, one year after her passing, the George Padmore Institute (GPI) and Lambeth Libraries celebrated the life and work of the captivating performer and award-winning poet Jean Binta Breeze. It was a joyful evening of poetry, music and remembrance.
This is the film of the event where the following friends, family and colleagues from the worlds of literature, music and theatre took to the stage: literature producer Melanie Abrahams; musician and producer Dennis Bovell; Jean’s youngest child, marketer Caribe Breese; actor and director Burt Caesar; actress Dona Croll; percussionist Everald ‘Far-I’ Forrest and his drummers; poet and GPI Trustee Linton Kwesi Johnson; and actress Angela Wynter.
