This is the second video in a series on the Plan of Salvation as it’s presented in the endowment in temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS, Mormon). In the Latter-day Saint temple endowment, we are presented with a dramatic performance of the Plan of Salvation in the form of a ritual drama. The narrative of the story, the covenants we make, and even the architecture of the temple help us envision our journey as a heavenly ascent to God’s presence.
On our path to our Heavenly Parents, the temple endowment helps us understand the Creation, Fall, and Atonement. These three pillars of eternity form the path of a heavenly ascent. Because of the Creation and the Fall, we descend to earth. The Atonement of Jesus Christ allows us to ascend back up to the presence of God. This concept is illustrated in ancient scripture through the “mountain of the Lord.”
