Severn Valley Railway - 'Railway 200 - Trains through the ages' 05/07/2025

As part of their own Railway 200 celebrations, the Severn Valley Railway would hold a special event over the weekend of July 5th-6th, under the banner of ‘Trains through the ages’, showcasing a variety of traction to celebrate the development of rail travel over the last two centuries.

Making its first visit to the SVR would be Carnforth stalwart 46115 “Scots Guardsman”, appearing alongside steam and diesel members of the home-fleet. Alongside their standard gauge cousins, two narrow gauge locomotives would in action in the carpark of Highley Engine House. “Chaloner” and “Holy War” would be available for footplate rides on a short run of temporary track.

The day featured a very intensive timetable, with frequent departures from Kidderminster throughout the day. The SVR made a concerted effort to ensure that 1450, 4930, and 46115, all appeared with appropriate coaching sets across the weekend.

Stanier Class 5 - 13268 was scheduled to be in service, but was failed prior to the event with a broken spring, with too little time available to be fixed; the locomotive makes a brief appearance on the tail of a service train in this video. Its diagram would be covered by 50033 and 75069, with D1062 covering for 50033s own services. Also in service would be BR Class 108 DMU - M52064+M51941, which unfortunately eluded the cameras.
