Module 1: History of Native Math and Science

Description: We know relatively little about these systems. Along with many other parts of Native American societies, many traditional mathematical knowledge was lost through the colonization of the hemisphere. Still, we know that math was part of their lives. This module explores what math meant to people of the past, as well as to Native American communities today. This module contains book and reading suggestions at the end to continue the conversation in the classroom.
