This is a comparison of floating through the Foxtail rapid on the Lower Salt River near Mesa, Arizona, at three different flows, 625, 1,050, and 2,575 cubic feet per second. After years of ferrying into the eddy here, I found that I prefer this route of going close to the cliff and following the outer edge of the clockwise swirl of the current.
