Braga show fight in narrow defeat

Despite the result, the boys can hold their heads high after a really positive performance. Some of the football we played was excellent, and with a little more composure in front of goal, the scoreline could have been very different.

For much of the first half we dominated possession and created plenty of chances, but Glendowan’s keeper pulled off a string of fine saves to deny us. Instead, they hit us on the break, racing into a 3–0 lead before Ben T pulled one back with a brilliant strike into the far corner.

We came out strongly after the break, pressing high and creating opportunities, but it was Glendowan who struck next to make it 4–1. To their credit, the boys never stopped battling. Ethan’s short corner to Elijah saw him chip a stunning first-time strike from distance — a goal-of-the-season contender — to bring us back into it. Moments later, Ethan burst down the right and whipped in a low cross that Rory T tucked away clinically to make it 4–3.

Braga pushed hard in the closing minutes, but the whistle came just as momentum was with us.

A spirited display, full of fight, effort, and quality — plenty of positives to take forward into the weeks ahead.
