Inlay Technique for other violinmaker and clients
We could make a wooden inlay for you: including the Laser Scan, preparing the wood, glueing cracks and patches, etc...
Some Examples: Soundpost patch , Worm Damage, Integrated Cleats, Big patches (until Cello length), Bow Repair, Doubling the Button or Edges, Repair cracks or blocks
How does it work ?
Worm holes, damaged areas and edges are cleaned and freed of the traces of previous work.
Open cracks are glued together. Using the the new „Inlay Technique", the area is scanned with a laser technology in a very small raster . The scan can be as fine and precise as necessary to obtain the best possible match to the existing structure.
Data are carefully reckoned and a „ready to glue" inlay created from wood that matches the original in age and structure. The process is a stepwise countersinking technique.
Will repairs come off the assembly line ? No ! -An Inlay can only be part of a repair concept ! Repairs and restauration will continue to follow the master plan each individual violin maker. However, the new inlays can be integrated into this plan because of their „made to measure" precision and their capability to preserve as much of the original substance as possible.
