CAN FD Light is a lightweight version of CAN FD (Flexible Data Rate), intended for use in deeply embedded, price-sensitive sensor/actuator networks. It facilitates the connection between a central controller and multiple sensors. CAN FD Light allows the re-use of existing controllers and components on Commander (master) side with lower cost Responder (MCU less). This protocol is particularly useful in scenarios where a lightweight, reliable, and cost-effective communication network is needed. CAN FD Light was initially developed for automotive lighting systems but it is now expanding to other applications like battery management systems and various sensor/actuator networks.
