At sixteen, Autumn thought she’d found her fairy tale, but it quickly turned into years of violence and fear until one day she said “enough.” The grown man she loved slammed her into doors, dragged her across floors, and left bruises over most of her body. One night, she ended up in the hospital and the nurse told her that if she went back, it might be her last time.
Now, she’s rewriting her story. At the LOVE is Greater than hate Project Performing Arts Benefit in September, Autumn bravely shared her journey. Her courage reminds us: there is light on the other side of darkness.
