The Black Phone was one of the most chilling horror films of 2022, blending supernatural dread with the terror of survival in an adaptation of Joe Hill’s short story from 20th Century Ghosts. Now, director Scott Derrickson returns to that nightmarish world with Black Phone 2, reuniting audiences with Finney (Mason Thames) and Gwen (Madeleine McGraw) as they face new horrors that are just as personal as they are supernatural.
The sequel deepens the trauma of the first film, exploring how surviving something monstrous can change everything when the Grabber (Ethan Hawke) reaches out from beyond. The returning cast, Hawke, Thames, McGraw, Jeremy Davies as Finney and Gwen's father, Terrence Blake, and Miguel Mora (this time as Robin's twin brother, Ernesto), are joined by Anna Lore and Demián Bichir, bringing new dynamics to the sequel.
